R(refracted)-PIV measurements of water film flow: application to flow under a rolling tire

An analysis of the water flow generated by a tire rolling over film has been carried out on an experimental level. The present investigation is focused commercial with winter V-shaped complex sculpture. Flow measurements were performed using optical technique derived from standard 2D-PIV, so-called r(refracted)-PIV. Some specific image processing tools have developed in order to take into account jitter location inside camera field view when analyzing set independent runs. Considering either grooves or front tire, different approaches are proposed. On one hand, geometrical segmentation allows these tread elements. A characteristic velocity deduced runs appears correlate position segment under consideration along contact patch area. It considered as hydrodynamic signature design. other water-bank ensemble averaging process local show influence groove presence at small scale and impact design large scale.
